What the record shows

  • Reported
    1 Oct 2026
The full route of about 58 km opened to traffic at midnight on 1 October 2026, 12 years after construction began in 2014. Four lanes with two emergency stopping lanes, through HCMC, Đồng Nai and Tây Ninh. About 30 km had already been open and tolled; the remaining 27 km, including the Bình Khánh and Phước Khánh bridges, completed the route.
  • Reported
    1 Oct 2026
The developer (VEC) expects the opening to cut about an hour off journeys from the south-western provinces toward National Highway 51. VIRO has seen no measured travel time or traffic count.
  • Reported
    6 Sep 2026
Nearly 30 km were in temporary operation on 6 September 2026.
  • Target
    6 Sep 2026
The Ministry of Construction requested route-wide opening during September 2026, subject to acceptance.

  • Any vehicle restrictions on individual sections.
VIRO analysis

It lets Mekong-side freight reach Long Thành and Cái Mép without crossing the urban core — if it carries trucks end to end.
